Deep Drawn Brass Cup for Hearing Aids
Using a range of our stamping capabilities, CGR Technologies Inc. manufactured a drawn flanged cup in 260 brass for a medical client, for use in a hearing aid. This was a highly specialized piece produced in low volume quantities, a run of 200 pieces. Lead time including design, tooling, fixturing, prototyping, and build was three weeks.
A deep draw stamping process was first carried out to create the drawn cup shape, with a height of 0.025" and a width of 0.150", from a 260 brass material measuring 0.003" thick. With a part this small in scale, tight tolerance is very important, and all processes were carried out within +/- 0.001". We used our wire EDM to punch small holes around the drawn cup, and pinch trim was also added to meet the customer's specifications. This specialty run is a fine example of CGR Technologies Inc.; wide range of manufacturing expertise.
